Ahhh, May in Georgia! What a Perfect Weekend...
The weather, the people, the course, all amazing. The 2008 Suzuki 24 hours of Conyers will have to go down in the record books as one of the finest race weekends ever. Thank you for coming out to play with Granny. We had a blast and we hope you did too!

Suzuki: Thanks Again!
The support from Suzuki Automotive made this year's race possible and we really appreciate the friendly folks from Son's Suzuki for being a part of the race and bringing out a fine sampling of Suzuki cars and SUV's for folks to check out. You can see details of the full line of Suzuki cars and SUV's at: >>>suzukiauto.com

Suzuki Awards Banquet
Suzuki also teamed up with Granny Gear to transform the awards ceremony into an awards banquet. A hearty pasta dinner was enjoyed by everyone. We re-fueled lot's of sore muscles before handing out the medals and prizes.

Real(ly good)Time Results :
Once again, RealTime™ Scoring was one of the stars of the show. We had many reports of friends and family following the results on the internet, at home. The RealTime™ results for the 2008 Suzuki 24 Hours of Conyers are posted for posterity. But also, check out the Storyboard™ results. In this view, each team is color-coded based on the order of finish on the first lap and then each team's placements can be followed throughout the race by following that team's color. See it for yourself and see how this graphical view tells the story of the race. (You may have to click on "display standings" to generate the story board.)

Granny's Webcast :
Paul Skilbeck and Matt Butterman, from o2 Sports Media, were covering the race with race reports and side-bar articles posted during the race. You can also read more of the stories in the Official Post-event Press Release.

You may have seen our hard-working photographers out on the course. There work has been posted on Granny's smugmug page for you to peruse. Prints and digital files are available for purchase for very reasonable prices. >>>You Photos Here!

Thanks for Recycling!
We are so pleased to see how thoroughly everyone took-on recycling during the race. Thank you for your efforts!

It is time for all of use to take a stand for living sustainably and recycling (along with reducing and reusing) is an important part of this.

Granny Gear is committed to providing recycling at all of our events from here on. Thanks again for doing your part.

More Fun Coming Up
in West Virginia

The Conyers course is nothing short of world-class, but in truth that can be said of all Granny Gear's courses and the Big Bear course is no exception.

If you and your teammates are psyched for even more fun, we hope you'll come join us at The 17th Annual Suzuki 24 Hours of Big Bear!

It's three weeks away, plenty of time to recover and get ready. The venue hosts up to 200 teams. If you log-in and register from your team page, you'll receive a multi-race discount.

We hope to see you there!

So, what about 2009?
Many folks asked this question and we really appreciate the concern that folks expressed not to lose this race and the encouragment given to us not to give it up. For our part we love this location and this incredible course and we really believe in the possibilities that this location holds. Our ability to continue this event will depend greatly on the sponsorships that we garner for 2009 and it is our intention to continue the six-race series by securing the sponsorship to do so.

For your part, there are three things that you can do:

  1. Talk it up. Just tell eveyone how much fun you had.
  2. Mitosis. This is the means by which a cell divides and replicates. Consider spliting-up and replicating your team into two or more teams next year.
  3. Be a Groupie. Next year, we are implementing a marketing plan in partnership with local racers who want to help out. We're calling them "Granny's groupies." Contact Michelle Loranger if you'd like to be added to the Conyers groupies list for 2009.

...and Support the Sponsors who Support You
Many thanks to Ellsworth for giving us so many sweet test-ride laps on their trusty bikes and to Infinit Nutrition for keeping us fueled up on high-test and NiteRider Technical Lighting Systems for sending us their fast-charging units and for lots of great prizes.

Lastly, thanks to SORBA and congratulations on 20 years of service to the sport of mountain biking!

Fun was had by all!
When so many folks have so much fun, we know we're doing our job well and that makes us proud as punch.

Thanks for all the Kudos and thanks again for coming out to play.

Happy Trails!
