The Race That Always Delivers (and will be continuing to)
This last Saturday's stormy weather gave way to a gorgeous Sunday and a chance for me and several of my crew to go for an epic ride together. During the ride, it occurred to me that Moab is just one of those places that always delivers. It so lives up to its reputation and every year that I return I seem to have forgotten just how amazing and beautiful this place is.
It's great to be in Moab again. The excitement leading up to the race is palpable. Teams are continuing to sign-up (330 so far) and our venue preparations and trail work are actually ahead of schedule.
It also occurred to me that like Moab itself, the 24 Hours of Moab always delivers. It's no miracle, it's the concerted efforts of Granny's staff, a whole host of dedicated local suppliers and, of course, the efforts made by you, your teammates and friends and family that come to support you.
We are so grateful for the loyal patronage of so many hard-core mountain bike racers. You have made this your race, for many it is the last hurrah of the season and the last chance to gather together with so many of the folks you've ridden and raced with all season.
All of us together have created one of the most famous (and infamous) mountain bike races in the world and I can assure you it's going to be going on for many years to come. This year's race is the first on a new 10-year permit issued by the BLM. It's one of the first 10-year permits ever issued in this area. We earned this permit by virtue of our careful stewardship and respect for the land that we have maintained and due to the the excellent reputation that mountain bikers have earned for themselves. Your respectfulness and your careful post-race clean-up are duly noted and very much appreciated. WTG! |

Suzuki sponsored Superbiker Champion Get's Moab Bug
While it is Suzuki Automotive that is the title sponsor of The Suzuki 24 Hour Series, that didn't stop
reigning AMA Superbike Champion Ben Spies from signing up for The Suzuki 24 Hours of Moab. Apparently Ben is an avid mountain biker and is gonna have some fun with some human powered biking along with four other friends of his. We'll see what kind of lap times Ben can put in (it takes a lot of fitness to handle superbike horsepower) but if you have any doubts about his bike handling skill and competitive nature you should check out this video. |
