2008: The Wind Year...
With 2006 forever recorded in the books as "The Rain Year," this year's race will certainly be remembered as "The Wind Year" as high winds buffeted the venue for two days straight right up until the first night laps of the race. The dumpsters looked like mass-graves for tents with the flesh and bones of nylon and aluminum poles overflowing the edges. Racers, support crew, and GGP staff, alike, took on the appearance of dogs too long in the backs of pick-up trucks. But as the winds died down and the sun came up, the chilly night gave way to a classic, beautiful Moab day, and the race ended on a high note. KUDOS! to the hearty souls: racers, support crew, staff, volunteers, vendors, sponsors and spectators who braved the winds and dust and stuck it out instead of packing it in. "Tough" seems an inadequate adjective. Here's a few more, pick three (or more!): brawny, durable, fit, flinty, hard, hard as nails, hardened, hardy, healthy, leathery, mighty, resilient, resistant, robust, rugged, seasoned, solid, stalwart, steeled, stout, tenacious, unbreakable, unyielding, vigorous, withstanding.

While searching for the ultimate race fuel, Pua Sawicki found exactly what she was looking for. She did so by designing it herself, and she has raced and won major 24's racing almost exclusively on her custom formula. Now, you can design your own race fuel. And who better to do it? You know your body best. Thanks to Infinit Nutrition for keeping everyone fueled-up, all year long! |

Thanks For Toughing It Out With US
They say misery loves company. Well there was certainly a lot of good company to be had with all the wind this year. It did make it easier for us to know that everyone was hunkered right down there with us.
2008 will be a year not long forgotten (and hopefully never repeated). Thanks for your good spirits and support.
We're very excited about next year's races. We hope you can take the team on the road and join us for some other great Granny Gear events.
Have a great ski season! (Keep the p-tex side down!)
See you next year! Happy Trails!
