The Course
The Killington course comes with real bragging rights. Its challenging terrain will test your fitness and your skills. But it is also designed to keep you entertained as hard-packed climbs and hard breathing turn to downhill single track and whoops and hollers. By all reports, the trails are in great shape and Killington's been working on their trails all summer, they've even built a 230 foot ladder bridge on one perennially wet section!

Alternate Rain Course Being Designed
Last year's event was a muddy one with nearly three inches of rain falling in the first six hours of the race. YIKES! The going got tough but the tough never stopped smiling. This year, we're preparing an alternate "rain course" that's shorter and has more weather resistant fire roads, in case we ever get into this situation again. We want to keep folks turning laps and having fun, no matter what. We'll be posting a map with the alternate rain course, soon. Stay tuned. |

City Bikes in D.C. Throws Down in Bid For Series Champs
Early this spring City Bikes, a popular shop in Washington D.C., announced their intention to go for the Points Championship, starting with Vail Lake. "City Bikes mountain bike team is planning on contesting the four-man expert national title. I already bought my plane ticket." wrote Mike Klasmier, "We are fielding one team for Temecula, Conyers and Killington, and 3-4 teams for Big Bear. Moab is a possibility."
Mike's Team bagged 1st place and 250 points at Vail Lake but they've run into some stiff competition at Conyers and Big Bear. Still, they are the current series points leader in the Men's Expert division with 665 points.
Currently, there's not a local expert team signed-up. Who is going to step up and give these guys a run for their money?!

The FJ Trail Teams take friends and family out to remote "Hot Spot"
Thanks to the folks from the FJ Trail Team, your friends and family will have the opportunity to get out during the race and see the racing excitement themselves. They'll not only be able to cheer-you-on out on course, they'll see why you do these crazy races and why you deserve the props! The FJ Trail Team will be supporting the event in many ways, shuttling volunteers, re-supplying EMS staff and course marshals, keeping their extremely capable Toyota FJ's very busy. There will also be an opportunity for you to test-drive the FJ and put it through the paces yourself. Check out the details on the Schedule of Events. . >>>Toyota FJ Trail Team |
Bunny Hop World Record
& Gap Jump Competition
The 24 Hours of Killington will host a Bunny Hop competition with an eye to setting a new world-record. The current record stands at 48 inches. The crowd watched, transfixed at The 24 Hours of Big Bear as the tape inched up past 40 inches, to 41, 42, and then 43 inches! But no other contestant could match Brian Yezierski's 44 inch jump, making him the Big Bear bunny-hop champion!
Tim Williamson of the North American Trials Series (NATS) has spread the word among the trials community. We're going for a world record at Killington. The action will be webcast in real-time on Dirt Rag's website.
We'll also be setting up a "gap jump" competion as well. (If you think of the bunny hop as cycling's high jump, then the gap jump is cyclings long jump.)
Both events will provide some amazing spectating opportunities.

Killington, Here We Come!
We really enjoyed the high spirits and great sportsmanship of all the hard-core racers who endured the rains last year.
New England mountain bikers showed what they were made of and we were impressed, to say the least.
We're looking forward to seeing everyone again for the second edition of The 24 Hours of Killington.
Thanks to everyone for coming out and playing with us.
Best wishes to you and your teammates for a great race!.
See you soon!
